COVID-128
Marissa Meyer
COVID-128 had its origin in a question a fan asked Marissa Meyer during the Covid-19 pandemic, "What [would] our characters would be doing during a time of social distancing?" Meyer's answer takes the form of an epilog to the series. The Lunar revolution fomented by Cinder is over, Evil Queen Levana has been vanquished, and our friends Cinder, Kai, Scarlet, Wolf, Cress, Thorne, Winter, Jacin, and Iko have taken up the roles foreshadowed at the end of Winter. The premise of this story is that a pandemic has come to Earth, not Letumosis, but a new one, and they are trying to get through it. Social distancing is part of the strategy. Eight of the nine friends listed above happened to be traveling in Thorne's Rampion when the pandemic was declared, so they are staying up there in orbit. One of them (I will not name that person, in order to leave a miniscule illusion of suspense) is not with the rest in Rampion, but is down on Earth.
There is no real plot. It is just a glimpse of our old friends interacting. It's a bit of fun. Not to be attempted as a standalone -- unless you have read The Lunar Chronicles, you'll have no idea who these people are.
The story is free to read at Fiercereads: COVID-128.
