Aw man, this is exactly what i was asking for! I imagine some of the students Spider taught formed a group of disciples that would eventually change their whole society. Thank you for writing this!
There is a small crack between a wood beam and the ceiling. I was trying to usher out a wasp that found itself inside. The wasp flew up near the crack and was snagged in an invisible spider web. In less than a second a rather large spider shot out of the crack to wrestle the wasp. The wasp got a way and the spider quickly retreated. I was shocked!
All this to say, I like to think your spider is still lurking in the academy cracks and shadows. There is something really powerful about its “invisibility.”
Love the cautionary message here about what can happen when narcissism is a driving force instead of actually valuing education.
Pallas would have been thrilled that Spider was so good at education if Pallas had seen clearly and valued education instead of being blinded by narcissism and jealousy.
